Counseling Student Must Follow Ethics Code

In December 2011, a three-judge panel of the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals upheld a lower court’s decision and rejected the claim of Jennifer Keeton. She believed that her First Amendment rights were violated when Augusta State University required her to treat LGBT people in a respectful and nondiscriminatory way. ...

Drag Boot Camp
Read More: Esta's Drag Race, Featured, Nations, Porsche Ferrari
Porsche Ferrari will ride for at least one more lap in Esta’s Drag Race at Nations. There are six contestants in “Group A”, and five remain to continue running to the next week.
I have an enormous amount of newfound respect for drag queens. It takes balls to get up there, reinvent your self and perform in front of an audience. And to do it for a group of judges and receive critique on your performance takes a profound amount of self-confidence.
I learned a lot about myself. I have been walking like a boy/man for almost 30 years, and apparently I am too good at it. As a man I have been working out more lately, which is great for my male physique, not good for Porsche. Less shoulders, more hips. The curve of a woman’s hips make her voluptuous. The “Venus de Milo” has a great pair. I do not. So, what do we do? We accentuate and exaggerate. I had “Drag Boot Camp” this past Sunday. I strapped on my thinnest, tallest heels and paced through my apartment for about an hour, getting tips and pointers from to several pairs of critical eyes. I learned and studied and I have improved. Walk like a woman? Check.
As an audience member to a few drag shows in the past I had always wondered one thing. Where did “it” go? I see the girls up there in tight and high cut outfits and I look closely, but I can’t see a thing. I know its there. But where? Magic? Clever fabric folding? Scissors? I had to ask. I had several interesting conversations with several well know queens in the Richmond drag scene. I was a little taken aback and lost my breath for a moment at the response. Wanna know? Apparently there is something called a “tuck”. Ready for a few euphemisms? Here we go. So, you take a strip of duct tape and attach it to your “Hebrew National” and pull it back between your legs and tape it down to your lower back. Then you take your “Jingle Bells” and place them back up inside your body; back where they dropped down from when you were a baby. Then you take a deep breath and few Advil and continue getting dressed. So, I tried it. Once. Porsche will not be tucking, she will push the “pantry” back, but these “legumes” will be staying on the outside.
Ready for week two? This week’s challenges are an outfit with favorite “Pride” color or colors and an interview with the judges, and a disco themed performance and outfit. Come on out to Nations on Thursday night @ 9:00 and show your support for all of the performers.
Porsche will be chronicling her adventures as a contestant in Esta’s Drag Race week after week on GayRVA. You can catch her Thursday nights at Nations to see if she makes it through to the next round. She’s also on Facebook. Nations is at 2729 W. Broad St.
