Video: McDonnell’s Transgender Former Brother-in-Law Publicly Speaks Out
Read More: Bob McDonnell, Equality, Featured, Transgendered, video
Dozens gathered for today’s “Don’t Hate, Legislate” rally at Capitol Square despite the rain. Delegate Adam Ebbin and Senator Donald McEachin spoke out against Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli and Governor Bob McDonnell’s actions since taking office.
At the rally, Robyn Deane shared her story about coming out as transgendered in the McDonnell family. See the full speech below.
Ebbin said Cuccinelli failed to cite a statute when he advised Virginia’s public colleges and universities that they couldn’t include sexual orientation in their non-discrimination policies. He referenced section 23.9.2.3 of the Virginia Code, which empowers public universities to establish rules and regulations for the conduct of students while attending the institution as well as the employment of professors, teachers, instructors, and all employees of that institution.
“Ken Cuccinelli is an embarrassment to our great State. We have a proud heritage within the great books of history,” Ebbin said. “Not of embarrassing lines on the Daily Show.”

It’s changed to public now.
I just wanted to extend a thank you to Robyn Dean who so bravely stood before the rally at the Capitol today and spoke. It was an honor to be with someone who has fought so hard to live her truth. I wanted her to know for that for all those that she meets who make her feel uncomfortable with their reactions, that there are plenty of folks like me who have no angst around her, only admiration. I am a 43 year old heterosexual married with two small children woman, and I felt honored to attend the rally today in support of the LGBT cause…..
