I guess I actually "threw" it in there. By the way, Rachel Maddow really broke the situation down well on her show last night. And, was that VCU protest footage?

Hopefully it will stay closed for good. That place is just a piece of filth. The look of the outside matches the seediness of the inside and the people there.

Very moving and inspiring overall.

I can't help also being disappointed by the few seriously counterproductive messages, like: "My gay friend can beat up your straight politician."

Feeding anti-gay stereotypes that we are vulgar and sexually obsessed with messages like: "Stop stalking my coochi, Cucci" and "Gay men don't like Cucci." These messages work against us as well.

Who is your picket sign consultant? I may want to hire them for my next protest!

Nothing says Spring like a good old-fashioned protest march on the Capitol with some faaabulous picket signs...sigh...

Thanks Jess. I honestly don't believe we'll see meaningful or lasting change unless we look at the big picture and the roles we're playing in it. These flare-ups don't happen in a vacuum. We have to find it within ourselves to fight proactively and challenge BS, even when it's inconvenient.

Also, I single out Republicans in this piece because the party has earned its reputation for religious zealotry and strategic intolerance. But, I also take issue with those who legitimize the authority of professional bigots. So, the Dems' aren't without blame. We elect people to look out for the public's interest, but too often they put their own interest first.

The appearance of Mark Myrie, aka "Buju Banton," or any of the other performers such as Beenie Man, Elephant Man, etc who are mentioned in the "Dancehall Dossier" http://tinyurl.com/2xax3b is unacceptable because they call for physical violence against others.

They call for physical violence against people that they don't even know, who do not threaten them, and whom they've never even met.

If someone appeared in Richmond who had a reputation of calling for killing Jews, and there was an objection, would the object be "out of proportion?"
