All the numbers are in and officially tallied from Rocky Horror Week.  Here are a few words of thanks from Scott Sibley of AIDSWalk Richmond:

Hello GayRVA!

Thank you again for your support of AIDSWalk Richmond through your dedication to Rocky Horror Week!

Where is the money going exactly? AIDSWalk Richmond has been in operation for only 2 months, thus once all monies have been received, AWR will have access to the greatly needed funds to print our education based literature as well as allow for purchase of some additional supplies and incentives such as condoms, ribbons, and bracelets. These items serve as reminders that HIV/AIDS is a part of daily life for many people and through the use of, or wearing of these items, we are able to overcome the City’s infection increase; one step at a time. Also, as AWR is set up as a foundation, we do not set a direct spending statement as we are still learning what services to develop and by what means. Remember, all funds raised go directly back to the community through educational outreach at this time. Once AWR has ample funding, we will then begin our grant, donation and scholarship programs.

Below you will see a breakdown of donations for the week’s festivities. This includes all donations that were made both through our AIDSWalk Richmond donation boxes as well as through donations made by the venues directly.

Saturday: $112 total donation from Rumors Boutique (not including cash donation box)

Sunday: $100 total donation from Barcode

Tuesday: $61 total raised at Papa Ningo ($14 raffle tickets, plus $47 donation at entry after 10pm)

Wednesday: $175 total donation from Godfrey’s

Thursday: $166 total raised from BlackFinn ($88 from cash donation box, plus match from BlackFinn)

Friday: $635 total raised from MovieLand event ($360 cast auction, $152 ticket sales, $123 through raffle and donation box)

GRAND TOTAL: $1,249 total raised from Rocky Horror Week GREAT JOB!

With your support and continued events such as this, we guarantee AIDSWalk Richmond will become the staple HIV/AIDS outreach and fund raising foundation for the City of Richmond.

Sincerely,

Scott Sibley, Director
AIDSWalk Richmond

A special thanks to Rumors Boutique, Barcode, Papa Ningo, Godfrey’s, Blackfinn, Movieland, and of course, the Orgasmic Rush of Lust Rocky Horror Cast for all their support throughout the week.

On the Scene at AIDSWalk's Benefit Show

AIDSWALK4

Last Saturday, Alley Katz played host to the AIDSWalk Richmond Benefit Show. This high energy show was arranged by Scott Sibley of AIDSWalk Richmond and music promoter Cat Lawler. Six great bands donated their time and musical ability to raise awareness of HIV and AIDS in the Richmond Area.

AIDSWALK3

If you missed this concert then you missed a lot of great music all for $10 bucks. Susan Greenbaum strummed the guitar with a great acoustic set sending off to a fantastic show. She was followed by the bass ripping and powerful electric guitar sounds of Battle Ghost and HalfBrother Sid. By the early evening we all were jumping to the power rifts of Long Arms and Hello Conductor. The all day event was closed out by the headliner group for the Benefit Show, Conshafter.  They had the dance floor jam packed till the very end of the night and still had the audience wanting more.

AIDSWalk Richmond will be held rain or shine on Saturday, October 17 and from 8 to 11 a.m.  For more information on how to participate or making a donation go to www.aidswalkrichmond.org.
